Stop Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage bill

Indian government is bent on a  hazardous called the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage, and it's coming up for a vote in a couple of days. The bill lets U.S. corporations off the hook for any nuclear accidents they cause on Indian soil. They'd only have to pay a meager amount, and Indian taxpayers would be stuck paying crores for the nuclear clean up and to compensate the victims. There is a lot of dissent in the blogosphere and the Indian press about this. However, It is unclear why the ruling UPA Govt seeks to bring this to the table. Greenpeace is launching a petition asking the PM to hold a public consultation before introducing the bill. http://www.greenpeace.org/india/stop-the-vote You can also voice out on facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/Petition-against-Civil-Liability-for-Nuclear-Damage-Bill-in-India/384059698828 Do your bit, Google it and voice your opinion.

Define Freedom - Blogging and Media

Before I start, I want to make a few points clear. I have no contempt for either Mrs. Dutt or Mr. Kunte. Neither do I have any allegation or support for either. What I am writing, is my personal view and believe in strongest sense what and how one need to be thinking. Everything ever is a fight in India. Truth, Freedom, Life itself. What we see here is just another classic case. In short: Barkha Dutt's coverage on 26/11 aired on NDTV while millions watched out of curiosity (for information and to quench anxiety). One Mr. Kunte in his limited reach tried to push his thoughts around. Mrs. Dutt brings in a lawsuit, and Mr Kunte. 3 months later posts a "not-for-comment" withdrawl post with specific points that have been objected. Mrs. Dutt has her own explaination too. Thats what it is. It is neither reporting nor blogging. Its just some series of words in English formed to sentences and put to some meaning. How you want to read it is your choice. If you are Barkha o...

Politics can be funny. Really.

I'm a big fan of Stephen Colbert's show . I watch that every night - atleast on the site. I am left educated and entertained by the time I finish his videos available online. I'm not following the 2008 election very closely, but more than often I get enough of it by how Stephen covers the Clinton-Obama race. Not only him - but the whole press has the same thing going on. Many a time, I feel bad for McCain for not being given the 'hype'. But this Cliton-Obama piece got into my head so bad. I started even thinking of every day chores to be Clinton-ly or Obama-like. (I have no specific support for either) On a similar Context I was watching this 'Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who ' movie today (update: I learnt it is an old book ). It is a really nice (animation) movie. However, half way down, I felt like I were Colbert(or his writer). I would see Horton as Obama - and Jane the kangaroo as Hillary (only by the tone and a little content of the speeches they mak...
